Top Ten Misleading Slogans

Slogans are “discussion stoppers.” Once they are trotted out, the conversation is over. Or at least it is supposed to be. I’d like to use them as openings:

10. “Against Abortion? Don’t Have One.”
9. “We are the Church.”
8. “Overpopulation causes scarcity.”
7. “Dialogue.”
6. “Old celibates have nothing to say about sex.”
5. “Dogma divides.”
4. “The Priest Shortage.”
3. “Just follow your conscience.”
2. “All Religions teach the same thing.”
1. “God is Love.”

One Response to “Top Ten Misleading Slogans”

  1. Thank you for enumerating these concepts. It is hard to know what is true without such well thought out essays.
